Nude Photographer/Photographic Artist TINA TRUMPP, Stuttgart

The Beauty of Femininity and Nature in Pictures

Award-winning photographic artist and nude photographer Tina Trumpp was born in Stuttgart in 1974. Her artistic journey took her to Italy, Spain, and France, where she lived and worked for several years. With numerous international exhibitions to her credit, Tina Trumpp is considered one of the most important contemporary nude photographers.

NUDE PHOTOGRAPHY

As one of the few women working in the field of photographic art, she has developed a very personal style in which the female nude is far more than just a subject. Imbued with the gentle spirit of modern feminism, her nude photographs pay homage to women and their delicate beauty. Using natural light and soft lines, Trumpp offers a new perspective on the depiction of nudity. Characterized by a calm self-assurance, her muses possess a natural, respectful elegance, underscored by strength and breathtaking beauty. Often depicted in the subdued intimacy of their private spaces, they casually reveal their femininity while seemingly lost in deep thought. Are they remembering a long-lost lover? Or are they waiting for his return? Trumpp’s seductive nude photographs evoke a narrative dimension driven more by contemplative emotions than by immediate instincts.

LANDSCAPE AND NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY

Just as the great painters of all eras found their subjects in nature, Tina Trumpp also devotes part of her photographic art to this genre. Her idealized landscape images are presented in a majestic and sublime manner reminiscent of the style of Caspar David Friedrich. The viewer is invited to reflect on these vast, enigmatic landscapes and hidden spaces of nature. The vastness of the sea, for example, invites contemplation and, at the same time, opens up the possibility of letting one’s thoughts flow freely.

Her photographic art navigates the tension between photography and painterly expression. Rather than merely depicting reality, Tina’s contemporary art photography becomes a canvas for color, light, texture, and gesture. As one of the few fine art photographers, she combines soft imagery, multi-layered compositions, and an intuitive use of light in such a way that her photographs are more reminiscent of paintings than of traditional photographs.

PAINTING

In addition to fine art photography, Tina Trumpp began painting in oils in 2022. Her modern paintings open up spaces of radical freedom for her. While her photography often requires meticulous planning of every detail, color—in techniques such as the squeegee technique—eludes this control. It moves, flows, and defies intention. From this interplay of chance and gesture, something unexpected emerges—something new: modern art that cannot be fully planned. It is precisely here that a new creative quality emerges.

During her stay in Marrakech in 2025, she created “Jardins de Marrakech,” a fascinating series of 35 watercolors that bring the local flora to life in vibrant, radiant colors. Inspired by the city’s lively atmosphere, this series explores the emotional power of color and movement. Marrakech’s warm ochre, deep red, and vibrant blue tones serve as the starting point for a painterly process that consciously incorporates spontaneity and chance into modern art.

CYANOTYPES / IRON-BLUE PRINTS

Tina also enjoys working with historical photographic processes such as cyanotype. Using this technique, she has created unique works featuring plants and butterflies from her own garden. Preserving biodiversity in an insect-friendly garden is particularly close to her heart, and over time, her garden has also become a refuge for many hedgehogs. Like painting or sculpture, a garden can also be a form of art. It provides her with organic shapes, textures, and structures, which she carefully arranges on paper. For Trumpp, plants from gardens are more than just decorative elements—they are testaments to living nature. When exposed to light using the cyanotype process, the plants leave their imprints on the paper and preserve their forms in a way that feels both scientific and poetic. This transformation invites the viewer to take a closer look at nature and discover the hidden beauty of everyday garden plants. Be sure to read the blog post on “The Garden as a Work of Art.”
