Wilhelm von Gloeden (1856–1931) was a German photographer best known for his nude photographs of young men. After experiencing health problems, he moved to Taormina, Sicily, in the 1870s, where he spent most of his life. There, he developed a distinctive photographic style that combined classical motifs, landscapes, and idealized depictions of the human body.
